Biomedical Instrumentation

Multi - Channel Stimulation InterfaceThe Biomedical Instrumentation program based in the CCNY Neural Engineering  lab invents, designs, prototypes, and tests medical devices for a diverse range of biomedical measurements and therapy applications.   What technically ties these project together, is the innovative and rapid tools we apply to generate devices that don’t simply “meet specifications”, but that practically address a specific and immediate medical need.  We develop devices to be deployed, to be effective, and to be used.

As the case for most academic based endeavors, students are the driving innovators and actuators in this effort.  Both graduate and undergraduate students provide the creative impulse and work ethic that underpin the CCNY Biomedical Instrumentation program.  It is the responsibility of faculty to help identify the most promising ideas and provide students with the facilities, equipment, and connections needed to succeed.  As such, we are tremendously fortunate to have access to the extensive resources of the City University of New York research centers and the New York Center for Biomedical Engineering hospital network.  Combining all this with the broader research and clinical facilities in New York City, and our established relationships with leading clinical centers in the “eastern corridor”, the CCNY Biomedical Instrumentation program provides an environment conducive to biomedical device innovation.
